It's one of the our greatest threats. It can suffocate, control, restrict and shut us down. Fear of the unknown is one of the biggest obstacles that all of us will ever face throughout our lives. We sit and wonder... and we play it safe. Then we complain that we are still stuck in the same situation that we've been in for who knows how long now. We contemplate "what if" over and over and over and come up with every negative scenario possible until we've completely talked ourselves out of that something that could have been great. Possibly life changing.
One of the biggest issues in this day and age is that we dream too big. And not so much that we dream too big, it's that we dream big, BUT, we don't want to wait for those rewards. I'm certainly not saying "don't dream big!", in fact it's quite the opposite. I recently started listening to The MFCEO Project, a great podcast by Mr. Andy Frisella who runs multiple successful businesses, and he states over and over that yes, you absolutely have to dream big. HUGE in fact. Make an inspiration board of everything that you want to achieve in your life and have it in plain sight. This will be a constant reminder of what you are working towards. The problem with society today is most people don't want to put in the work that is required to achieve that big dream. Our world has turned into one of instant gratification and participation trophies. Why should I have to wait to be rewarded for my great idea? Because unless you were "lucky enough", and I hate that phrase, to inherit everything in your inspiration board, you are going to have to put in the work. Period.
I have big dreams for what VNDK8 can and will be, and in all honesty, it's overwhelming. So overwhelming that much like I said above, it has shut me down. But what I've learned as of late, thanks to The MFCEO Project, is that unless you take that first step forward, all you will do is wish and want. And reaching those big dreams and achieving those goals starts with taking little steps forward. It starts with making a list of things that I can do right now that will get me on the path to where I want to be. Each one of those little things that gets checked off your list is a victory that you can celebrate, creating a positive motivation for you to move on to that next little goal. As you go down this path, the goals get bigger, the work gets harder, but so does the reward!
VNDK8 is something that has been tossed around in different iterations for years. Over 13 to be exact. This business started back then much like it is re-starting right now, with baby steps. The starting point, similar to the situation that most of you face, was just an "idea". A "Man, I'd really like to...", "Wouldn't it be great if I...", and unfortunately that is where it stopped just as quickly as it started. We contemplate all the things that could go wrong, all the restrictions, listen to all the people who say you are crazy, and the worst part is, start to believe them. But, what if today, RIGHT NOW, you started taking those baby steps forward, and things start going... right? After all, the only way to guarantee failure, is to never start in the first place.
This is just the first post of many to come, but I wanted to start off this blog with a little inspiration.
