What I Listen To
Over the past few years, aside from needing an energy boost while driving or at the gym, I’ve spent less time listening to music and more time listening to podcasts (Mostly because I think 75% of music today is painful to listen to). While I used to listen simply for entertainment purposes, recently I’ve turned to specific podcasts for educational purposes. I enjoy gaining inspiration from those who are WAY smarter than myself, those who have been through the trenches, and those who live a purposeful and meaningful life. However, much like music, certain podcast have a certain purposes. Some are for education and inspiration, and some are just for killing time to break up the monotony of mowing the lawn or that morning commute. Below is the list that I have on constant rotation throughout the week.
The MFCEO Project - Andy Frisella
This is by far my #1 listened to podcast the past couple months. I cannot say enough about it. In fact, this is the one that convinced me to get off my a$$ and launch VNDK8. No joke, it took this podcast. If you are sensitive to language, then I don’t suggest it. But if you want an in-your-face real life look at business and life in general, this is for you.
The School of Greatness - Lewis Howes
This podcast falls in at #2 for my motivation for launching this company. Shortly after finding out about Lewis Howe’s and the School of Greatness podcast, I picked up his NY Times Best selling book, conveniently titled “The School of Greatness” which was another key influencer in launching VNDK8. Lewis’s goal is to bring on engaging guests who have excelled in their area of expertise and extracting how to they got to where they are.
The Tim Ferris Show - Tim Ferris
Tim is a world renowned author and entrepreneur. You’ve probably heard of his books like “The 4 Hour Work Week” and the “4 Hour Body”. Tim interviews some of the biggest names in world spanning all forms of entertainment and business.
Jocko Podcast - Jocko Willink
I was first introduced to Jocko through his appearances on the Joe Rogan and Tim Ferris's podcasts and was instantly hooked. He is a decorated retired Navy SEAL officer, author of the book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he is a leadership instructor, speaker, and executive coach. Jocko spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, starting as an enlisted SEAL and rising through the ranks to become a SEAL officer.
The Good Dad Project - Larry Hagner and Shawn Stevenson
Being a father of 3, I need all the help I can get! In a world inundated by social media, parents need to step up their game to be our kids biggest role-models. Larry Hagner and Shawn Stevenson do a great job in discussing tips and tricks to lead a purposeful life and one that your children can be inspired by.
